Tales of a Smile

A smile: it’s full of contradictions,

it’s a painting of red and blue,
a show of joyful despondence,
a pink mask with lips of a pallid hue.

It’s a master concealer,
for wrinkles, freckles and creases,
a sheep’s skin for wolves and
the sound of teeth grinding into pieces.

It cannot be trusted, yet it’s
the only indication of a genuine jewel
that endures the scorching heat and
is quick to cool.

Look carefully, and remember,

every smile holds a tale of real fiction.
